I love the Shuk on Monday nights!!! I tried to really appreciate everything and take it all in. The people watching was AMAZING tonight. So many young, happy, Jewish couples, people dancing to live music, and families enjoying their time together (or yelling at each other.. but it was in Hebrew so it still sounded wonderful!).
Can’t believe I packed up everything today. Tomorrow I have my Hebrew final then I’m going up north to the כנרת (The Sea of Galilee) with Shmulz for a few days.
Basking in every moment.

Today was my last day tutoring Traure and Ali. I’m really going to miss coming to Tel Aviv each week to help them learn English. Their enthusiasm and drive to learn English wowed me. I’m so blessed to have met them and I hope I helped them a bit!

Can’t believe I’m leaving in a week… למה?!?

Had a hilariously amazing series of adventures at Masada, the Dead Sea, and Ein Gedi this weekend.

24/6.. this makes me so happy.

The other one is me, Shmulz, and his dog Barry after our lovely pasta dinner at the shuk.

Also, special thanks to the sweet couple who bought me an espresso at English Cake after they saw me studying for Hebrew class. I will sorely miss the kindness of the Israelis I’ve met.

During the summer, there’s a big party at the shuk every Monday night with live music, dancing, and plenty of “characters” in random costumes. Wonderful night!

=)

-Studied Hebrew and people watched at the shuk.. never gets old

-Nargila and pleasant conversation with new friends, Rick and Eitan at  גן העצמאות

-Subsequent waffles with chocolate sauce, bananas, and halva at Babette’s with Rick and Eitan.. I’m really glad I only found out about this amazing hole in the wall now rather than 6 months ago.. I would need 2 seats home otherwise.

- Beers and jachnun with Shmulz, Daniel, and Shmulz’s Canadian friend (oops I can’t remember his name). Gem: The security guard at התקליט (The Record) was literally sitting in front of the bar lifting dumbells and doing lunges. At one point he even took out one of those elastic stretchy things and was pulling it behind his back for exercise. No shame.

What a pleasant day!! So blessed to be here.

Shabbat Shalom!

- Spent the day with Shmulz. We wandered around Nachlaot, a beautiful neighborhood right beside the Shuk with winding streets and alleyways, beautiful Jerusalem stone houses with flowers everywhere, and laundry hanging from the line. Forgot my camera so I took a bunch of mental snapshots.. I’ll make sure I go back and get some photos soon. We had hummus at a restaurant in the shuk and I got a bunch of produce and such for Shabbat dinner. The shuk was so packed as it always is on Fridays.. I love hearing the vendors shout prices in Hebrew while people quickly buy things for Shabbat.

- Made Shabbat dinner with my suite mate, Shaina, and had some new people join us.

- Went to the Kotel… it’s AMAZING on Friday night! Usually the women’s section isn’t too exciting, while the men are singing and dancing around. This time the women were singing and dancing in huge circles, and of course we joined right along. The energy at the Kotel on a Friday night is just something you can’t explain in words. It was beautiful.

Shabbat Shalom everyone! =)
